Dear Colleagues,
It is with mixed feelings that I share my retirement as President and CEO of the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits. Thank you for the opportunity to serve nonprofits across the state with the Center since 2017.
It has been my privilege to work with an incredible Center team who is truly committed to our mission to connect, educate, and advocate for North Carolina nonprofits. Likewise, it has been my honor to work with the Center’s board of directors to strengthen our foundation and build for the future.
Thank you as well to our philanthropic, corporate, and public partners who trust us and work with us to strengthen our great statewide network of nonprofits.
I appreciate our work with statewide and regional partners, recognizing this collaboration enables us to better connect nonprofits and share ideas and resources. The Capacity Builders Network especially – comprised of regional capacity building organizations – has been a source of ongoing support and guidance for which I am so grateful. The NC Office of Strategic Partnerships, UNC School of Government, and many other business partners, coaches, and consultants (truly too many to name here) have been generous in supporting and helping to strengthen the Center’s work.
I am excited by and proud of the Center’s renewed focus on centering equity in our programs and services and elevating inclusion and diversity. We developed capacity building programs based on our Principles & Practices guide, including Center Managed Solutions (CMS), which empowers leaders to assess and build their organizations internally as they reach out to serve their communities. The Nonprofit Management Institute has grown into a signature capacity building program. We have lifted the voice of nonprofits through our nonpartisan advocacy on state legislation and federal policies that affect nonprofits in North Carolina. Throughout the pandemic, we ramped up reliable and timely resources and suspended membership requirements to many resources to enable access for more nonprofits. Above all, we value those nonprofits who join as members and help strengthen our voice for all North Carolina nonprofits.
While I step down from this role, I will continue to seek opportunities to work with colleagues in new ways. I believe the Center will continue to grow and thrive, and believe that through my leadership I have helped prepare it for the future. I wish you all well!
